Merchants’ Academy is an all age Academy based in Withywood, Bristol with students from Nursery through to Sixth Form. Merchants’ Academy is part of Venturers Trust which is sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers together with the University of Bristol. The Trust comprises Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school with 3,500 pupils and 700 staff. The Academy provides an exceptional environment for students and staff.
We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to cover lessons during the short term absence of the normal teacher who will have set suitable work for the duration. The role of the Cover Supervisor is to supervise the class whilst they complete tasks set by the teacher. This requires no marking or planning but does require active supervision and delivery of the information provided by the teacher or Head of Department.
The successful candidates will have:
• Been educated to a high standard with a minimum GCSE grade C in English and mathematics (or equivalent qualifications), or NVQ Level 2 (or by test)
• Recent experience of working in a school in a similar role
• Ability to communicate and relate to staff, students and parents alike
• Ability to effectively use ICT to support learning, or to undertake training to do so
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
