Radars Site Technical Manager FalklandsPermanent/ Full-Time Competitive salary plus benefits
Serco Defence are contracted to maintain Air Defence radars and provide the day-to-day operation of Remote Radar Heads across five radar sites at Brizlee Wood, Northumberland; Saxa Vord, Shetland Isles; Buchan, Eastern Scotland; Benbecula, Western Scotland, and Neatishead, Norfolk.
As part of a new expansion, Serco has bidded for a contract to support the Remote Radar Heads on the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic, The Falkland Islands are a British overseas territory that rely on the UK for the guarantee of their security. On this basis we are open to registering candidates interest for the role should we be awarded the contract.

Main Accountabilities:


- Recognised as an experienced Radar engineer within the business, providing specialist engineering advice, guidance, and Management to the site Radar Engineering personnel in all areas of maintenance, radar support and system setup of the TPS -59 radar system.
- Responsible for delivering 95% availability of both the Primary and Secondary radar systems.
- Understand and deliver industry best practice with regards to radar support.
- Lead and manage a team of 2 others to deliver radar availability at remote radar sites.
- Deliver 1st/ 2nd line Preventative maintenance on the TPS-59 Radar Systems.
- Deliver 1st/ 2nd and 3rd line Corrective maintenance on the TPS-59 Radar System.
- Responsible for quality compliance, safety, and engineering obligations at TPS-59 radar site.
- Engaging with the RAF customer and their representatives.
- Provide out of hours call out to support radar availability when required.
- Responsible for Management and review radar technical manuals
- Responsible for Management all tools and test equipment required to support at radar site.
- Support the Systems Manger to maximise the overall system availability.
- Responsible for Management of Spares inventory at the radar site.
- Provide a site support to Lockheed Martin when required.
- Manage personnel to carry out all non-technical tasks at the radar site.

What you’ll need to do the role:


- Hold a recognised Electronics and Electrical Qualification.
- Required OEM technical training.
- At least 10 years radar experience.
- Able to build and maintain strong relationships with RAF personnel on the radar sites.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Proven track record in maintaining the Air defence radar systems.
- Understanding RAF processes.
- Proven track record of successful maintaining radar systems.
- Proven practical and pragmatic understanding of service delivery.
- Previous team management experience.
