Summary
The post will offer a wide range of experience in all aspects of both Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine and would be suitable for those planning a career in Emergency Medicine. However, due to the variety of work and the development of a leadership role, it would also be asset for anyone wishing to pursue a career in any acute specialty or general practice. It may also suit those who have followed an unconventional career path with a variety of previous experience in acute specialties who wish to consolidate and develop their clinical and leadership skills. We would welcome applications from overseas trainees with experience of Emergency Medicine who wish to work in the NHS. You will assess patients and initiate treatment working with a multidisciplinary team and will assist the consultants in the supervision of the more junior doctors and in the safe and effective running of the Emergency Department. You will work on a shift basis with other registrars e.g. Specialty Trainees (ST3 and above) or Specialty Doctors, such that cover is provided in the Emergency Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is shop-floor consultant cover Mon Fri (08:00-22:30) and at weekends (12:00-20:00), with telephone cover at all other times.
