Summary

In the management of employees of the Trust, you will be expected to follow legislation and personnel policies and procedures and in particular to act in accordance with the principles of equality of opportunity. All employees must attend infection control training as required within their department or as directed by their line manager. The candidate should be a surgeon specialised in soft-tissue sarcoma with the focus on retroperitoneal sarcoma and should have a clear academic interest. It is expected that the successful candidate will have undertaken dedicated sarcoma fellowships/training in major institutions. The candidate must demonstrate evidence of having performed retroperitoneal sarcoma surgery for liposarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and other histologies. Experience should include the performance of compartmental resections and major vascular resections. It is also essential that the candidate can independently perform surgery for trunk/abdominal wall/groin/extremities soft tissue sarcoma. It is expected that the candidate will demonstrate a strong academic CV in sarcoma, predominantly retroperitoneal sarcoma, including peer-reviewed publications in indexed journals and presentations at international conferences. Aside from the sarcoma elective work, the candidate needs to demonstrate their ability to independently run the on-call in emergency surgery.
