Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised person to join the Ophthalmology Administration Team.

You will be the Failsafe Officer for Ophthalmology and will ensure that our follow up patients are booked according to timeframes and within priority order. The Failsafe Officer is responsible for monitoring patient waiting times and overdue dates to ensure clinical reviews are taking place for all overdue patients.

You must be capable of working independently while exercising personal initiative and able to organise their workload based on the demands of the service and different sub specialties.

Knowledge of the trusts RTT targets and rules is desirable but full training on all aspects of the role will be given.

You must be able to uphold the Trust Values of Safe, Kind and Excellent at all times.

The Failsafe officer is responsible for ensuring Ophthalmology patients are not lost to follow up and all patients have appointments within agreed timeframes. When this is not possible it is the Failsafe officers’ duty to escalate the overdue patients for clinical review.

You will also be responsible for monitoring patient waiting times and overdue dates, ensuring clinical reviews take place for all overdue patients and inputting failsafe review information into the Trust system.
