Salary: Up to £40,109 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits. These include:
• 55 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)• Generous Occupational Pension Scheme • Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) – worth up to £6,000 over two years
About the roleYork College is seeking to appoint a GCSE English tutor to join the Foundation English and Maths team. You will be a dedicated and motivated professional with a passion for helping students improve their literacy skills. You will also contribute to the delivery strategies to improve the delivery and quality of English teaching and learning for our 16-19 cohort.
About the personYou will be qualified up to at least Level 3 in English and a relevant degree qualification (or equivalent) would be desirable. In addition, you must possess a recognised Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or display a willingness to work towards achieving this.
You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teacher with experience of delivering English, preferably in a FE context. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching the new 9-1 GCSE English Language specification and have taught GCSE English to a wide range of students. Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are also essential in this role.
