Summary


We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and caring Band 8a Physical Healthcare Nurse Practitioner to manage, monitor and help improve the physical healthcare of mental health patients on our Lakeside site and our Hammersmith and Fulham site. This vacancy has arisen due to promotion of the current post holder.

The nurse practitioner will join our physical health team of two nurse practitioners and a consultant nurse. The Lakeside site is behind West Middlesex University hospital and consists of five wards. The post holder will normally work on one site but will cross cover other sites as required. The Hammersmith and Fulham site is behind Charing Cross Hospital and consists of five wards.

We have a nurse consultant in physical healthcare and post holder will work with and be supported by the nurse consultant. The post holder will on occasion deputise for the nurse consultant and may be required to attend meetings and carry out formal and informal training sessions. The post holder will see and assess patients and work with medical and nursing staff to ensure physical health problems are treated effectively. The post holder will supervise and support mental health nurses in gaining fundamental skills such as venepuncture, taking an ECG and wound care.

We are seeking an adult/general trained Registered Nurse with advanced assessment and prescribing skills. We will support the nurse in developing competencies and there are excellent development opportunities within the Trust. We have strong links with other key services including our local general hospitals and community services, the community mental health teams, Police Service, Emergency Duty Teams, Advocacy Service, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Chaplaincy Service and other voluntary organisations

You must possess good written and verbal communication skills and be computer literate. Candidates will need to demonstrate some understanding of the needs of services users who are experiencing a mental health crisis and be willing to adapt to the specific needs of individual clients. A high standard of performance will be expected as will a willingness to attend training and development opportunities.
