Summary

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

This role is pro rata, so the salary you will be receiving is £24,370.11- £25,740.33 per annum.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

Background to the Post

As part of the residential team at WCG, the Residential Bar and Social Manager works with colleagues to organise social and recreational activities for residential students at Moreton Morrell College and ensure the efficient, effective management and operation of the student bar.

The post holder will report directly to the Senior Residential Support Officer and Residential Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

● To deliver a creative and innovative activities calendar which positively contributes
to the experience of residential students at Moreton Morrell College. This should
include activities that support the mental health and wellness of students and
where possible, link to the WCG Diversity Calendar published annually.
● To promote physical and creative activities to all residential students with an
emphasis on those under the age of 18, to ensure they have an enjoyable and
active experience whilst at College.
● Encouraging participation through a range of activities and offering options for late
evening chat drop in’s with ‘tea and toast’ in the Bar area.
● To facilitate the opening of the onsite college gym at Moreton Morrell for
residential students across the week with sessions available in the early evening
twice per week by carrying out inductions and supervising attendees.
● To arrange for external professionals to deliver activities as appropriate, working
within budget limits and actively participate in the induction process for new
residential students.
● To collate feedback on activities from students, using this to help develop an
innovative programme, In addition, collect attendance data to measure interest
and also identify any individuals not participating for follow up by the Residential
team.
● To assist in overseeing good student behaviour in the Suggett Centre when on
duty, liaising with the wider residential team as required.
● To ensure risk assessments are in place for all activities.
● To ensure that the commercial management of the bar is carried out effectively
including monitoring income and budgets and maintaining a high standard of cash
handling. To follow financial procedures for the monitoring of variances and the
secure overnight storage of any cash on the premises.
● To recruit students to work in the bar, ensuring that all are correctly trained in the
legal requirements of a licenced premises. Ensuring that rotas are in place to
cover the opening times of the bar and activities and to cover any absenteeism as
it arises.
● To ensure that staff who work behind the bar are fully conversant with and adhere
to the licencing laws and understand the rules regarding under 18 students and
understand the processes for end of shift cashing up and daily reconciliation.
● Also arranging additional staff as available for larger functions e.g. Summer Ball
as and when required.
● To maintain the bars, storerooms, cellar and lounge in good clean order including
stock management, ordering the best value for money, and maintaining service
schedules where appropriate.
● To be responsible for the safekeeping of any keys and codes and to ensure that
the proper security measures are in place in order to prevent unauthorised access
to restricted areas or items.
● To report any accidents, hygiene issues and health and safety hazards to ensure
the safety of staff and students. Maintain accurate and up to date paper and
electronic records in line with College policies, relevant licensing legislation and
HACCP food hygiene procedures.
● To provide emergency first aid cover and assist in the transportation of students
using college vehicles to and from events as necessary or in an emergency. To
gain a minibus license to drive vehicles to events as required.

Essential Attainments

● Good standard of education including GCSE English Language and Maths.
● Full UK Driving License.
● To have or be willing to undertake training to become a Personal License Holder
for the sale of alcohol.
● Have a relevant Gym Instructor qualification or be willing to undertake training as
required.
● A relevant First Aid qualification or be willing to undertake training as required.
● Hold a minibus license or be willing to undertake training as required.
