The projects and services that we deliver are shaped by need and we are expanding and evolving. We are thrilled to be able to offer this new post to support us with the development and delivery of new and existing projects. Those projects are our Gateway award (Day service) and our volunteering services which we are keen to develop further.

The post will be 2 days of the week working as a Gateway support worker facilitating the Gateway Award to the people we support. 2 days of the role will be your opportunity to shape our volunteer services and really get this off the ground and establish this service. There is a great need for us to gain meaningful volunteer roles, to further help the development of the people who we support.

• Supporting the delivery of in-house activities (arts and crafts/ cookery) as directed by Supervisor.
• Working alongside the Supervisor and Project Manager to ensure that all participants are reaching the desired outcomes as set by the Gateway Award and Wirral Mencap

Volunteer Co-ordinating (2 days)
• Follow up on leads from our other Personal development mentor on people who may be interested in volunteering.
• Help find suitable and meaningful volunteering opportunities for participants of The Gateway Award.
• Build and establish new relationships with organisations and businesses who may be able to offer volunteering opportunities.
• Complete risk assessments and suitability assessments of both the potential volunteer and placement
• Complete personal development plans
• Regularly review the ongoing volunteer placements.
• Act as Wirral Mencap’s point of contact for the volunteers on placement.
• Expected to cover Gateway and all other personal development areas for periods of planned annual and or sickness as and when required
