Development and Alumni/Communications Team

Open ended Contract: permanent

Full Time: 35 Hours Per Week.

The Development and Alumni department is keen to appoint a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager, to deliver alumni and philanthropy communications projects and to play a key role in shaping our wider narrative. If you have a passion for philanthropy and have built your career on finding innovation in communication, then we’ll provide an environment which supports creative problem solving and where you’ll work on projects with real work impact.

You’ll be working for the University of Edinburgh, one of the world’s leading universities and at the cutting edge of research and teaching. The work we do has global reach and impact and you’ll be at the heart of some of our most exciting activity.

The Opportunity

As our Communications Manager, you'll wield your creativity and expertise to craft captivating narratives and designs that inspire action and drive our philanthropic and alumni engagement mission forward. You’ll work across every channel, from traditional print to cutting-edge digital platforms, finding innovative ways to reach and build relationships with our audiences.

You’ll be involved with some of the University’s most important activities and play a key role in linking the past to the present and future with projects such as Student Scholarships and the 300th anniversary of the University’s medical school. You’ll get the chance to work on activity in ground-breaking new facilities, such as the Edinburgh Futures Institute building, where an important city centre location will become a new environment for teaching, research and innovation, with national impact.

The University’s alumni are one of its most important stakeholders and you’ll help us to build strong relationships with them across a range of channels, tailoring our messages to meet their needs and helping them stay connected to the University and all that we have to offer.

You’ll need to be a confident and experienced influence, able to work at all levels and build professional networks that can support you to deliver on your goals. We’re looking for someone data driven, experienced in producing reports and who can work effectively in a team or by themselves.

Your work will contribute to the work of the University of Edinburgh and its mission to make the world a better place. If you want to join us in helping make that happen and think that you have the skills and experience to excel, then please get in touch.
