Summary

Lab Support Assistant - Part Time

We have a fixed term contract opening to support our Pharmaceutical client within the Barnard Castle area for 12months, offering Laboratory support working within an integrated environment and with a well established team, fantastic opportunity for an individual seeking experience in a laboratory environment

The Lab Support Assistant role (25hours/week) is to provide services to support the laboratory functions at Barnard Castle - Zinnat. 

The role includes, but is not limited to:

-Waste management: solvent, reagent & sample disposals medi bin disposal

-Glassware management: Washing/Storing various glassware

-Routine checks/Calibrations: Balance calibrations, Fridge/Freezer Temp Checks, eyewash & shower checks, Stability cabinet water top ups, Fume hood checks

-Equipment cleaning: waterbaths, Defrosting Freezers.

-Reagent Prep: Preparing eluent/diluents/reagents aligned to lab schedule

-Lab consumables Management: stock check of storage areas, replenishment of stock and ordering, booking in

-Keeping samples - Archive/Disposal management

-Hosting external visitors: "meet & greet" escorting visitors through the change control process & handing over to responsible person.

-Porterage and administration

Please be advised this role works within a cephalosporins sterile production area, anyone with allergies to similar types of antibiotics ie penicillin won't be considered for the role.

Key Accountabilities

-Ensure that tasks are completed according to the schedule and therefore have no negative impact on production.

-Ensuring no stock outs of lab consumables and escalating in a timely manner

-Accountable for adopting the ALCOA+ (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original & accurate) principles.

-Maintaining 100% in MyLearning & Mitie Learning hub

-Flexibility to cover any activities that supports plant production

What we are looking for  

-Educated to A-Level/Higher Grade in a Science discipline

-Attention to detail & capability to work methodically to strict processes and procedures

-Ability to communicate effectively and foster good working relationships with a wide range of client, internal and external roles

-Confidence and communication skills to challenge behaviours and drive continuous improvement.

-Can perform under pressure and independent of supervision

-Computer literate: excel, word.

-Position requires individual to be mobile (moving to/from various laboratories) and some physical lifting will be necessary

This role would be suitable for a parent returning to work or looking for more flexible hours to suit the school run or an individual looking to gain first hand experience within a laboratory environment.
