Job Purpose: The CSM, Family Based Care, has leadership responsibilities and accountabilities for providing excellence in Fostering, Adoption and Adult (Continuing Care) Placement Services, in keeping with the national Health & Social Care Standards. The CSM FBC will also have a joint responsibility for the development of Kinship Care and Permanence Planning (working closely with the Strategic Lead for the Family Teams).

This leadership role requires experience and specialist knowledge in delivering Fostering, Adoption & Adult Placement Services, which are provided within a complex legislative, procedural and regulatory framework. The CSM FBC is the Registered Manager and is directly responsible for ensuring strong links with the Care Inspectorate. This leadership role has a strong accountability for self-evaluation and continuous improvement to ensure services are of the highest quality and standards, where children are safe and protected in every household, where practice is focused on the wellbeing of children and young people, who require compassionate, skilled and nurturing family-based care across the Highlands.

The CSM FBC has leadership responsibility for the growth of Family Based Care to ensure sufficiency of services, as fundamental to the vision of Children’s Services, Family 1st Strategy – to safely maintain children within families, within the Highlands. The focused management of the team, ensuring continuous recruitment, support, supervision and retention of family-based carers, with the passion and values to provide safe, stable and loving family care, is the key focus of the FBC service. The CSM FBC will ensure that the entire team embrace and embody the transformational change of the Promise, which aspires to ensure 1. love is at the heart of all care, 2. families are supported in their local communities, and 3. that FBC must relentlessly focus on safely keeping brothers and sisters together and connected. FBC Services are built on compassionate relational practice that is trauma informed with rights and relationships protected and respected. This leadership role will ensure voice, participation and lived experience is rooted in every aspect of the service.

Requirements
