Summary

Advanced Psychological Therapy Practitioner (Step 4), Wirral

We have a fantastic new opportunity for an Advanced Psychological Therapy Practitioner (Step 4) to work with clients who have a range of complex trauma, long standing emotional difficulties and co-morbidities.
You will be responsible for training, analysing service information, and identifying and implementing service improvements, alongside the day-to-day operational running of the team.
About the role

Allocate approximately 60% of time to direct clinical work with clients.


To provide specialist therapy to clients as required eg. EMDR, DBT, CBT, Counselling Psychology, ACT.


Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and any complex factors concerning the client’s psychological needs.


Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate appropriate action where indicated (including requests for mental health act assessments and referrals to relevant secondary care services).
Collect psychometric data and maintain appropriate clinical records, in keeping with service operational policy.


Communicate directly with clients, carers, relatives and other health professionals, complex and potentially emotive information regarding clients condition, treatment, prognosis, subject to ethical boundaries of confidentiality.


Co-facilitate psychological groups as agreed by the Clinical Lead and/or Service Director.


Clinically supervise other members of the Team, dependent on modality, advising Clinical Leads and Service Director of any issue which arise.


Participate in meetings including Service Meeting and MDT, and other meetings as required.


Comply with professional body eg. BABCP and/or BPS, code of conduct as well as procedures and government legislation, as it applies to the service.

About you

Diploma in CBT.
Secondary qualification in a Talking Therapies modality eg. EMDR, DBT, Couples Counselling.
Accredited with a recognised professional body such as BABCP or BPS, or a willingness to become accredited within the first 12 months of employment.
Experience of working in a Talking Therapies service, demonstrating significant stepped care knowledge.
Evidence of providing effective interventions.
Experience of working with clients presenting with complex trauma.
Experience of working with clients with long standing emotional difficulties.
Experience of working with clients with co-morbidities.
Knowledge of clinical supervision modalities.
Experience of risk management plans.
