Summary


Cavendish Ward is a male, 20 bedded Later Life ward based at Wythenshawe Hospital in South Manchester caring for patients with Functional and Organic Illnesses. Our patients have complex needs, and we are determined to provide the most holistic care we can for our patients, and to hopefully make their experience a more enjoyable one.

If so we are looking for highly motivated, experienced nurses, with a passion for working with Older Adults with Mental Health Issues. As the ideal candidate for this post, you would be a committed and highly competent Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) looking for a new challenge and seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to patients and carers. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure on a busy, inpatient ward.

As a later life ward, we have a keen interest in physical health, and so the successful candidate would need to be enthusiastic and experienced. They would need to be a good role model and have strong leadership skills and be focused in how to further assist the team to develop.

The post holder will take charge of the shifts on a rotational basis, act as a primary nurse to service users and their carers, as well as being responsible for the establishment and maintenance of effective communication with all relevant personnel who contribute to the care of the service user both internal and external to the Trust.

The post holder will, in collaboration with the ward manager, ensure continuous clinical and professional development for ward staff through on the job coaching, mentoring, audit, regular supervision, and ward based training of less experienced staff.

The post holder will deputise for the ward manager as required and promote multi-disciplinary team working whilst leading predominantly on nursing issues and leadership.

The post holder will be expected to act into duty manager role occasionally in a supporting role to staff across Laureate House
