Trainee Respiratory Physiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Respiratory Medicine department at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital on a full time basis. We are seeking to recruit a trainee Respiratory Physiologist. Ideally with experience of working in a diagnostic enviroment. The role will help the lung function team provide a high quality, patient focused service. Staff with a good team work ethic will be supported with in house training for lung function diagnostics and external qualifications.

Along with the basic tests of lung function, such as spirometry and CBG’s, other tests you will perform include skin tests and overnight oximetry to screen for sleep-disordered breathing

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the department on a day to day basis, providing a polite, professional and efficient clinical service to our patients. This role involves supporting the outpatient clinics within Respiratory Medicine to ensure swift diagnostic testing to improve patient pathways. The successful post holder will be part of a developing and interesting Lung function department.

Candidates will predominately be based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital but should expect to provide cover at The Royal London Hospital if required.

Candidates should ideally have prior experience of working in a clinical role, preferably in a secondary healthcare setting. The successful applicant will be well organized, able to multi-task and work well under pressure and will have a strong sense of patient/customer care.
