Job title: Learning Support Assistant
Salary: Negotiable – Main Pay Scale
Hours: 36 hours per week
Schedule: Mon-Fri - Term time - Contract renewed annually.

In this role you will be supporting primary pupils with strong social and emotional mental health needs. The Robert Holme Academy caters for children who may have struggled to succeed in mainstream environments due to challenging behaviour, SEMH and/or additional complex needs. Experience working with children and within a SEND setting is therefore essential.

We focus on a nurture approach to supporting our pupils. You must be resilient to undertake this role.

Some of our children have medical needs alongside their learning needs and it would be advantageous if the candidate was comfortable with supporting with needs such as diabetes and epilepsy and working 1:1 with identified individuals that require more intensive support.

The pupils who attend this school are vulnerable, so this role requires someone who is reliable and able to build strong bonds with the pupils that attend. You will need to be approachable and patient and be able to build a strong rapport with the pupils. You will work closely with Teachers to support a class of up to 6 pupils. Alongside a flexible academic curriculum, pupils require targeted individual interventions to support learning needs as well as reviewing and identifying key outcomes. Learning Support Assistants are expected to take on a Keyworker role for up to 3 pupils.

Key duties include to:
*assist teachers to undertake appropriate programmes of teaching;
*assist in the teaching of pupils according to their educational needs, including the planning, implementation and assessment of pupils’ work and progress;
*assist in delivering additional learning plans for individual pupils such as therapy programmes or learning interventions;
*build strong, supportive, positive, and professional relationships with the pupils;
*assist in recording the attendance, progress, development, and attainment of pupils and keep records in line with school policy and practice;
*contribute to reports (where necessary) for pupils’ statutory assessments, annual reviews, transitions, and individual programmes;
*take on a Keyworker role, preparing paperwork, reviewing, and setting targets and contacting home for individual pupils;
*ensure the core areas of learning are reflected in the pupil’s daily teaching and learning experiences;
*ensure high quality of teaching and learning experiences for all pupils that meets with the internal and external quality standards;
*organise, prepare and update subject materials and resources in classes and shared areas of the school;
*use a variety of delivery strategies and methods that will stimulate and support learning appropriate to the individual's needs;
*support break times and lunch times;
*maintain discipline in accordance with the schools’ procedures, and to encourage good practice regarding punctuality, behaviour, and standards of work.
