JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 52 year old woman living in the Barry area with my Husband and my dog. I am looking for a PA to help me get out of the house more and engage in more social activities.

I used to get out a lot more and used to attend the gym but need to support to do this now and struggle to get out due to my anxiety of going out since my diagnosis. I am diagnosed with Huntington’s and have been since 2016.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main purpose of this job is to help support me to get out of the house and engage in the community more. But there will also be an element to be worked in the house and supporting me with food preparation, domestic tasks and general support around the house.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 6 hours per week available which will need to be used flexibly.

Time and days both variable as they will need to cover when my husband works shifts and work around our schedule.

RATES OF PAY

£12 per hour and double time on bank holidays.

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

· Taking me out into the community to go shopping, cafes, the beach or just a short local walk.

· Preparing food for me when needed.

· Undertaking domestic tasks such as cleaning etc.

· Generally supporting me around the house and ensuring my safety.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· Someone who is alright working in a home with a dog.

· A driver with business class insurance.

· A flexible person who can work around our schedules.

· A good communicator.

· An understanding person.

· A caring and empathetic person.

· A reliable and punctual person.

· A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
