Summary


We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Neurosurgery team as a Clerical Officer on a fixed term basis until March 2025. The successful candidate will be working alongside Medical Secretaries and other support staff.

The successful candidate should have good IT skills, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work to deadlines, the ability to work well as a tea, whilst also using initiative to complete designated tasks.

The successful candidate will provide assistance to secretarial and consultant teams by carrying out a wide variety of clerical tasks within the busy neurosurgical department. Tasks include, but are not limited to; processing referrals, opening and coordinating post, monitoring patient results to ensure they reach the appropriate person in a timely manner, clinic preparation, telephone calls to patients and other NHS organisations, scanning of patient documents, collecting and delivering documents across the hospital including wards and outpatient areas, amongst other general clerical tasks and anything else which might be required.

• Working within a team of administrative staff supporting the provision of an efficient secretarial support service to Consultants, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff within their team, i.e. Specialist Nurses
• Deal with telephone enquires promptly.
• Communicate with other departments within the Trust regarding appointments and admissions at the request of medical staff
• Cover admin posts Trust wide as required.
