JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a gentleman in my 80’s living in the Barry area with my daughter and son in law. I enjoy attending a singing group in Ty Hapus and I also attend a keep fit class on a Monday. I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but I still like to remain as active as possible which is very important to me.
I will need regular prompting with taking my medication, drinking, sitting and relaxing. I may misplace things so will need someone who is patient and calm to reassure me at times.
When at home I enjoy watching episodes of Laurel & Hardy, Tommy Cooper, and I also like to watch the rugby on YouTube and with guidance enjoy completing puzzles.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The main purpose of the job is to support in the home. You will also be required to take me for a walk with the dog.
HOURS OF WORK
12 hours per week
Hours will be worked on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
RATE OF PAY
£12.70 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
Preparing light lunches/ heating up meals
Going for a walk with the dog
Prompting to take my medication with a drink
Companionship in the house
Provide reassurance
Ensuring I am safe at all times
Any other reasonable tasks
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Chatty & friendly
Good sense of humour
Patience & caring
Someone who is ok with a dog in the home and happy to go on dogs walk
Experience with Alzheimer’s would be preferred, but not essential
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a four basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
