Benefits: We want to help you look after the things that matter to you, such as saving for your future, getting a discount on your weekly shop, or encouraging you to find a work-life balance. Please read our package, below, to see what benefits we offer you.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (part time), working 3 out of 7 days. Regular weekend working is required as well as weekdays and holidays. Shifts will be worked between 9am and 5pm on average.

Salary: £11.88 per hour (£23,166 per year pro rata).

Duration: Fixed-term contract until 1st March 2025.

Interview dates: Week starting 6th May 2024.

What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Assistant Managers, you'll be based at Calke Abbey (Derby, DE73 7JF), one of the East Midlands’ top 10 visitor attractions. The newly refurbished restaurant serves local and seasonal produce, including organically reared meat from the estate. As well as the house, Calke is popular with visitors looking to explore the gardens, pleasure grounds, stable yards, and the 600+ acre estate including an ancient deer park, wetland and nature reserve. Our popular commercial spaces such as the restaurant, café, pop-up refreshments and shop help to make much of Calke’s extensive conservation work possible.

What you'll be doing
As a Team Leader, you’ll be giving day-to-day support to your team, to make sure they’re consistently giving great service to everyone who comes to the café. This is a busy, lively place to work, so you’ll need to be adaptable.

Your focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people and serving them food and drink. Crucial to this role will be your love of working with people, your positive ‘can-do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service.

Using your excellent eye for detail, you’ll make sure all displays and signs are accurate, and that the food is looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.

You’ll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that’s dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.

We’ll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.

Please also read the full role profile, available on our website.

A problem solver, who can lead and support a team every day.
