Summary


We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical team. You will be ward based with dispensary duties and will be required to support our 7 day pharmacy service (on a rota basis) for the Ipswich site and must be willing to work at the Colchester site should this be needed.

You should be qualified and hold a Certificate of higher education in Pharmacy Technician Practice or C&G/NVQ3/BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences/pharmacy services.

This position would be considered as a Band 4 development role completing the in-house Self Led Education and Development Scheme (SLEDS) training programme and end of course assessment to achieve the Band 5.

Experience in hospital pharmacy including working on wards is essential and you must have successfully completed accredited Checking Technician, Medicines Management and Medicines Reconciliation courses (We will consider applicants who have at least started on the MR course).

Undertake pharmacy duties as dictated by management, including supporting Medicines Management and Optimisation on the wards and in the Dispensary.

End-check on prescriptions previously validated by a pharmacist (ACPT)

Support the ward based clinical pharmacy team by assessing Patients Own Drugs (PODs) for suitability of use, discussing future supply with patient/care provider and ordering required medicines from Pharmacy.

Transcribing medicine requirements from drug charts on to a ward pharmacy sheet.

Undertake Medicines Reconciliation (having completed accredited training course), checking patient medication history, comparing with prescribed medications on the in-patient prescription chart.

Counsel patients or carers (having completed in-house or accredited training) including those with complex medication regimens, medications compliance concerns and communication barriers such as disabilities, confusion or deliberate non-compliance

Complete re-validation Continuing Professional Development requirements and maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
