Summary


Being part of the Mental Health Single Point of Access (MH SPA) and NHS 111 Mental Health Service at West London NHS Trust, you will be at the forefront of innovation of service delivery in one of the fastest growing services of community healthcare.

This role will offer the chance to maintain direct clinical support to the service, whilst helping to develop junior staff.

The right candidate will be responsible for the overseeing referrals into the service, and offer consultation about appropriate care pathways for patients. You will also lead and monitor the performance and work of the staff in the team, you will work closely with the team manager and deputise for them, as and when required

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe care in the service. They will provide clinical expertise in supporting Telecoaches and Mental Health Advisors in making decisions to ensure that patients are transferred into the appropriate secondary or primary mental health services, where there is an assessed need for that service. Where screening and clinical triage indicate that specialist mental health care is not indicated, support staff in facilitating a safe discharge back to Primary Care with advice.



Post holder will be responsible for ensuring they follow the different pathways for different roles, as this can be different when working in the MH SPA and NHS 111

The post holder will be responsible for creating an environment which is safe, supportive and an easily accessible with a no wrong door approach, and will also undertake brief crisis assessments, give advice, information, signpost and use their expertise to de-escalate presentations or interface with other services for more appropriate or intensive input/follow-up.

The post holder will be involved in the on-going development of services, to ensure that the most relevant care pathway and care plan is devised to provide access to urgent and crisis care. Will be helping to shape the new NHS111 Mental Health Service and the more established MH SPA.

They will be active in the promotion and use of evidence-based practice through the provision of clinical advice and support; acting as a role model; and providing education and training where appropriate. They will liaise closely with carers, both statutory and non-statutory services, emergency services, and 3rd sector services. They will liaise closely with local services CATT teams to provide rapid response to mental health crisis situations where necessary and appropriate to decrease the number of unnecessary presentations to A&E.

The post holder will also deliver supervision for junior colleagues. To work within a 24 hour 7 day a week rota system, ensuring that a comprehensive service is provided to patients and robust gatekeeping is maintained.
