Summary

To provide operational and clinical leadership with the MHST Ensure their named area is meeting operational and clinical targets Line manage and supervise staff within the MHST Promote the core functions of MHST alongside the IAPT Principles Facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential conflict Take an active interest in working parties and groups within the Local Authority to develop and improve on service delivery, protocols and guidelines Advise, encourage and share knowledge utilising the latest research and practice development, through literature and peer reviews Ensure that a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence-based service is available to all service users who need it and who use the MHST To manage and screen referrals into the MHST and ensure effective and sufficient caseflow Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision-making. Complete all requirements relating to data collection To provide consultation and advice within multi-disciplinary meetings. Provide a consultation-based service to educational setting and national and local colleagues To work systemically in schools and across the local authority to promote whole school well-being practice Work closely with Designated Senior Mental Health Leads in Redbridge schools through project work, training and leading intervention Knowledge of evidence informed interventions for low mood, self-harm, anxiety and common behaviour problems in young children and older children in education settings Classroom observations, consultations with parents and school staff, use of evidence based interventions Initiate and lead on whole school programs To undertake supervised casework related to targeted children and young people. Deliver evidence-based intervention to children, young people and their families. To suggest and lead on project work or running small group interventions This may involve conducting research and attending training provided by the borough and external providers Following LA data protection procedures To engage in effective and timely report writing To actively engage in regular supervision sessions with your line managers Prepare and present case load information to supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, to ensure safe practice and the governance obligations of the trainee, supervisor and service are delivered. To provide specialist mental health assessments and interventions for schools, parents, children and young people with the EMHPs. To undertake risk assessments following referral To work within a multi-professional team and attend relevant meetings. Presenting research, being part of a peer support team, attending local and national meetings, reading groups, reading and commenting on research papers. Completing training, provide training to colleagues both in EPS and other Redbridge teams (e.g. Social Care and Health) Attend regular clinical supervision sessions to problem solve around a childs needs To lead and participate in the teams professional development, and performance management programmes in accordance with the development Plan and Redbridge borough requirements. Responsible for keeping up with changes in psychological theory and practice and be part of considering organisational changes to meet demands. Development and delivery of CPD to team members Ensure own continued professional development to maintain the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holders professional and service managers Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local NHS, Social Care and Education policies and issues of relevance to the MHST, particularly safeguarding policies and procedures and NICE guidelines To contribute to the initiation, development and implementation of new responses to changing needs and demands upon the team. Attending school, local authority and national meetings and listening to their views about the required services Providing support to schools and families Consulting with the school EP and SMHL Keeping up to date with relevant changes in the national MHST context To attend, as required, a range of interagency meetings to represent the service, in a delegated role, offering guidance, where appropriate, ensuring that issues relating to the service are noted and brought to the attention of service managers/leads General accountabilities and responsibilities Attend and fulfil any requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic and practice based assessments. This would include reviewing videos and case reports of the EMHPs where appropriate Specific Accountabilities and responsibilities To lead the team in specific areas of focus dependent on professional expertise and local need.
