What will the successful candidate be doing:

We're looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Inspection & Certification Group (ICG) Technical Team responsible for technical matters relating to welding support to the Sellafield site and offsite supply chain, this will cover on and offsite build, maintenance, and asset care.

Responsibilities include:

* Provision of welding engineering technical support to inspection teams covering on and offsite build, maintenance and asset care.

* Welding selection advice to new build project work.

* Review and approval of welding procedures.

* Subject matter expert contribution to technical challenges, use of new technology and improvements/innovation including development work, there's a particular emphasis on welding applicability for nuclear applications.

* Audit and investigation of plant and manufacturing issues.

* Processing of Technical Queries/Concessions within the welding discipline.

* Input into the writing of new specifications and the revision of existing in-house standards.

* Delivery of technical training to existing work force, graduate trainees within SL and the company apprentices where necessary.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

* Welding engineering experience supported by a nationally recognised qualification

* A proven track record of providing a welding engineering service to the nuclear industry

* Understanding of behaviours that drive quality

* Proven ability to implement improvements to support the business

* Ability to identify and measure KPI's to measure the effectiveness of improvements

* Self-motivated and resilient

* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Sellafield Ltd organisation

Desirable Skills:

* Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems
