Summary

We freshly prepare over 2000 meals every day on site for our patients and staff, and need you to come in and supervise our fab team of Catering Assistants focusing on the quality and meeting our customer needs.

We need you to lead our team, supervising our staff and supporting them to be the best they can be, providing clarity and direction on tasks, support to help them develop as well as ensuring they understand how crucial their role is to our patients and staff.

Obviously it goes without saying that your effective communication skills will help you liaise with colleagues and other departments in order to ensure the smooth running of the department and you will be the role model and lead by example. your commitment and passion for delivering a great catering service will shine through.

We want to support you in your role ,so you will given full interactive training as well as specialised training courses in our active kitchens, where you will gain further experience and transferable skills that will be great for your development . we also have Management support in place so you are never on your own.

You will be responsible for the effective Cleaning and Maintenance of all patient service areas. There will be emphasis on ,training and allocation of Cleaning duties, focusing on the quality of results and outcomes, standards of the Hygiene and cleanliness within our Kitchen areas. awareness of Standards being met continually.

As a Catering Supervisor you must liaise with staff and colleagues around the Trust in a other departments. You will be a very important element of the department and will work alongside a range of staff leading by example and acting in a manner that upholds the Trust Values.

You will also adhere to departmental standards and food hygiene regulations.

Key Duties:
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure an accurate exchange of information about catering tasks and service needs.
• Communicate with a range of service users either internal or external in person and over the telephone to understand, individual needs and provide information relating to the catering
• Promote catering values
• Co-ordinate and supervise the production of simple snacks for service within the Catering retail
• Co-ordinate the food service for both patient meal and retail services.
• Coordinate and supervise the cleaning either manually or with the use of mechanical equipment provided e.g. cleaning of areas, washing of crockery, cutlery and utensils.
• Assist with the co-ordination and management of staff in the capacity of a first line
• Assist with the management of performance issues including attendance, conduct and Complying with the appropriate Trust policies in relation to these issues.
• Assist with the monitoring and management of sickness and absence, liaising with managers as In particular conduct return to work interviews following staff absence
• Prepare staff rotas, allocating duties on a daily basis to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner .
• Participate where required within the interview and selection process for band 2 staff.
• Actively encourage staff development following the Trusts policies and procedures
• Operate cash registers in retail areas, demonstrating diligence at all times
• Supervise Catering Assistants providing training as required
• Ensure accuracy when allocating floats and cash counting at the start and end of the shift
• Ensure security of cash within departmental safe and whilst transporting around the Trust
• Report any defective equipment, personal injuries or health and safety hazards
• Escalate to a manager if necessary
• Taking the piece of equipment out of action if required
