Summary
We are looking for Kitchen Porters to play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the school’s kitchen and to ensure a hygienic and efficient working environment for the kitchen staff. You will be expected to work in schools all over Devon and Somerset as and when required. You must have a transferable DBS and own transport due to the nature of the role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely manner to ensure a continuous supply of clean kitchenware.
- Keep kitchen surfaces, equipment, and appliances clean and sanitized according to health and safety standards.
- Support kitchen staff in various tasks such as food preparation, basic cooking, and ingredient organisation.
- Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Assist with monitoring and organising kitchen inventory, including notifying the chef or manager when supplies are running low.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to create a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands of the job.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
