About the role

To take full responsibility for the effective operation and delivery of the business plan for their relevant unit within the Home, in conjunction with the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, Director of Nursing and Clinical Lead to take full responsibility for ensuring high standards of professional practice which meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the Residents. To plan, manage, direct and monitor the delivery of all aspects of dementia care across all floors of the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shared responsibility with Home management team for the selection, recruitment, induction and training and regular appraisal of all staff
  • Liaison with the Home Management team as required to ensure the effective operation of care delivery throughout the home
  • In conjunction with the Home Management team, to monitor CQC standards and ensure effective delivery of quality of care within the home and to liaise effectively with CQC inspectors
  • To engender an atmosphere of co-operation and positivity within the home dealing with Residents, colleagues and suppliers with courtesy and respect at all times.
  • To liaise effectively with staff to ensure transfer of information within the Home
  • To work 12 hours supernumerary each week, with the remainder of the hours being within shifts on the floor as directed, and occasional weekends as agreed with the Home Manager
  • To lead on Dementia training and focus within the home teams across all floors, including new joiners, with particularly reference to our in house training.
  • To ensure that all care staff receive regular supervision
  • To ensure that all staff receive training and any support necessary to facilitate their role and that they follow company policy and procedures at all times
  • To ensure that there is the appropriate skill mix and staffing numbers on the floors at all times
  • To ensure that all staff on night duty are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities and to carry our regular checks as required
  • To handle staffing issues, including performance management where necessary with the assistance of the Home Management team
  • In conjunction with the Home Management team to provide relevant information to prospective Residents, to make appointments and conduct effective show rounds
  • To arrange trial visits and conduct assessments for the home where necessary
