Summary

A Vacancy at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Are you looking for your next career challenge? Are you creative and innovative with a passion for providing high quality patient care? If so then we want you! This is a brand new, full time, permanent band 7 post in acute care. You will work alongside another band 7 operationally leading a team of 6 SLTs with the opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge and skills, develop your leadership and management skills and lead on service development.

We pride ourselves on valuing and supporting our team members and we give all therapists the opportunity to deliver teaching and training, as well as being supported to implement service development and engage in research.

The acute team sits in a department of approximately 30 SLTs, and you will have the opportunity to learn from other teams including ENT, spinal, voice and outpatients.

The post holder is expected to operationally lead the team alongside another band 7 providing evidence-based SLT assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders across a range of acute wards. The acute team covers all general medical and surgical wards, neuro outliers, critical care, ED, care of the elderly and acute admission wards. We use FEES, VFSS, and cough reflex testing routinely for dysphagia management and work closely with the MDT to deliver patient-centred care.

You will be supported to lead on the acute FEES service, participate in videofluoroscopy clinics and lead on providing acute care to patients with tracheostomy. You will be expected to support team members through clinical supervision and in turn, we will ensure you have protected CPD, regular supervision and be part of a friendly and nurturing team.

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.

Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.

We run major acute services at:
• Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK
• St Mark’s Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease
• Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice
• Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.

We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
