Summary

An exciting and unique opportunity for podiatry graduates of 2024!

We are offering a Band 5 developmental post suitable for a highly motivated graduate, who is passionate about podiatry and aspires to be an advanced practitioner and drive change within our profession in the future.

You will be supported by a framework designed to prepare you for Band 6 podiatry roles in a timely and focused way. We will introduce you to practice within the NHS, develop your clinical skills and confidence, as well as develop your personal skills to directly contribute to service development and delivery.

We are partnering with Professor Mark Tagoe’s Podiatric surgical team at West Middlesex Hospital, where you will spend 1 day every week rotating through the specialist areas of surgery, medicine, and imaging. The aim is to expand your medical and surgical knowledge and experience as you start on your journey towards being an advanced practitioner in our profession. As part of this process, you will be expected to attend the Thursday evening teaching sessions which will give you the opportunity to further your knowledge base and research skills. The successful candidate will also develop their presentational ability by sharing the knowledge gained with the wider podiatry team.

You will need a podiatry degree, local Anaesthetic certificate and HCPC registration (or be working towards this as a newly qualified podiatrist)

In our vibrant and multi-cultural community, you will work from well equipped clinic sites delivering care close to home. You will assess, diagnose, and provide high quality podiatric care to people with complex foot health needs and lower limbs that are at risk. There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection due to the high incidence of diabetes in the population we serve.

You will be responsible for agreeing care plans with patients that support self-management and optimise foot health, in line with service priorities.

You will be required to visit housebound patients in their own homes, so you must be able to drive and have access to a car to support their needs.

You will work autonomously as well as alongside others, so you need to be flexible and well organised and great at teamworking. You will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with our diverse patient population and with various other health care teams and stakeholders.

We are the NHS Trust responsible for providing community health services for over 500,000 people across the London boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames.

Our community healthcare covers most of the services that are provided outside of hospital or GP surgeries. We are passionate about delivering high quality care and provide a range of specialist services for both adults and children

Our staff play an important role in enabling people to stay healthy and active and in preventing them from spending unnecessary time in hospital. We see ourselves as part of integrated health and social care systems in Hounslow and Richmond.

Our mission is to provide care and services that we and our families would want to use.

In the podiatry team you will be supported and mentored by our friendly experienced clinicians, who are committed to providing excellent clinical care, which is patient centred and compassionate.

We will help you hone your clinical and assessment skills. You will also join our nail surgery Rota and get involved in the research we are currently undertaking.

You will further benefit from the mentorship of our specialist MSK podiatrists and those working in the Diabetic foot clinic MDT at West Middlesex Hospital.
