Summary
Is providing technical assistance and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment ‘Your Thing’?
We are looking for an analytical thinker, with extensive knowledge and experience of rail vehicles, in particular those operated by Northern. You will be part of the depot technical support team helping provide technical assistance. You must also operate in a safety and time critical environment whilst liaising with contractors and specialist engineers.
As a Technical Support Engineer you will report in to the District Technical Co-ordinator but also provide support to the Depot Production teams.
Day to day you would be responsible for investigating technical and safety issues and incidents, production and implementation of documentation in support of maintenance, modifications and special checks and implementation of contracts through the depot warranty system.
A typical working day is from 08.00 – 15.00 Monday to Friday but there is flexibility and travel will be expected to other locations when business needs require. There may be some later or earlier finishes.

Key responsibilities:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
Progressing and closing Technical Query’s raised from Production
Monitoring and assisting with Warranty, Material and Component issues
Leading or assisting the Engineering Function on technical investigations
Reviewing Safety Related Defects (SRD’s) and National Incident Reports (NIR’s)
Working with the wider Engineering team to develop and support fleet modifications
Production and implementation of documentation in support of maintenance
About you:
You will be a strong communicator with excellent analytical skills. Organised, friendly, and confident about talking to and building relationships with all sorts of people.
We’re also looking for the following:
IT literacy
Engineering qualifications to HNC/HND standard essential
NEBOSH Certificate or working towards essential
Experience of safety, quality and technical product audits and audit techniques
Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme
