37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 2 months
City: KIDDERMINSTER
Ensure Council’s plant and fleet are serviced, maintained, and repaired to the highest of standards. Prioritize the work to meet the need of the service.
Assist with allocation, monitoring , recording , and auditing garage works, and keep up to date essential paperwork. Liaise with the Fleet Officer when required.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake responsibility for the workshop in the absence of the Fleet Officer
Carry out 6 weekly inspections, safety inspections, vehicle servicing and repairs as required.
Prepare vehicles for Plating and Mot tests to the highest standards.
Undertake MOT, Taxi inspections and staff car servicing as part of the garage income generation.
Be available to support the fleet maintenance and service out of normal working hours when requested by the Fleet Officer.

Qualifications:
City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair level 3 or equivalent qualification.
LGV Class C driving licence
Knowledge:
Practical Mechanical understanding of the maintenance of HGV commercial vehicles, cars and plant
LGV inspection and testing standards and principles
Fault diagnosis of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Commercial garage operations
MOT legislation
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of practical mechanical maintenance of HGV commercial vehicles
Skills & Abilities:
Able to prioritise work as required on a service need basis
Able to work in a methodical and efficient manner
Able to work under pressure, maintain a high standard of work and attitude
Physically able to perform practical garage work
Operation of computer-based software and IT auditing systems
