Summary

Job Description

Panel beaters, or vehicle body repairers, are responsible for the repair of the bodywork of vehicles. You will use various metalwork techniques to remove dents, repair rusted section, and fix panels together. You will need to finish the bodywork in a way that matches the rest of the vehicle.
• Making assessments of damaged vehicles, deciding how best to repair it and estimating the time and cost for the repair.
• Mending rusted parts of a vehicle’s bodywork.
• Removing any dents in panels.
• Repairing minor scratches or making replacement panels.
• Welding new or repaired panels into place.
• Finishing the repair in a way that matches the rest of the bodywork or preparing the surface for a paint sprayer.
• Keeping records of all work carried out.
Coachbuilder role will involve drilling, cutting, riveting, bolting and screwing components and parts including steel, aluminium, plastics, GRP and wood materials. You would use hand tools and basic cutting machinery to modify and alter the vehicles and parts.
Carry out chassis modifications Perform chassis conversions and fitments on elements of stocks of chassis by modifying its length and weight distribution. Meet specific requirements and quality standards by consulting and communicating with engineers and technical personnel.
Use welding equipment
Operate welding equipment in a safe manner; use welding techniques such a Mig Welding, Gas Welding and Tig welding.Dayshift: Monday - Thursday 08:00hrs to 16:30 hrs and Friday 08:00hrs to 13:30hrs Backshift: Monday to Thursday 13:00hrs - 21:30hrs and Friday 12 noon - 17:30hrs. * Please note that the operational hours are subject to review and may change.
