Summary

Job Description

The Development Officer will be a key point of contact with partner organisations for partnership activity relating to the Discover Work Strategy & detailed Action Plan. The post holder will co-ordinate aspects of this work across Dundee and contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of the strategic vision, goals, and top line action areas. Initially, the Development Officer will focus on employability related aspects of Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan for 2022-2026: Best Start, Bright Futures (BSBF) delivered through the Dundee Partnership’s Fairness & Child Poverty Action Plan.

Best Start, Bright Futures (BSBF) was published in March 2022. Employability is a key pillar of the plan and builds on current approach through No One Left Behind to help ensure that work offers an effective and sustainable route out of poverty for families. The overall aim is to support parents to: a) access and sustain work; and b) progress in work and increase their earnings. The full impact of Best Start, Bright Futures is expected to be achieved beyond the lifetime of the plan given the lag in employability outcomes.

This role will support engagement in the wider Child Poverty agenda from the perspective Discover Work and is therefore entirely additional to pre-existing Child Poverty Lead roles. The postholder will support services to deliver on the policy intent of No One Left Behind and Best Start, Bright Futures, by driving actions for the integration and alignment of services at a local level including LEP organisations, employability providers, and wrap-around services (e.g. childcare, housing and transport) that support parents’ transition towards and progression in work. In doing so, we will ensure parents have access to employability support that is embedded by default in a wider package of holistic, wrap around support.

Working in a hybrid style, based at home and Dundee House, you will work full time, 37 hours per week, on a temporary basis until March 2026.
