Summary

POSITION: CARERS ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

LOCATION: LIVERPOOL

HOURS: 20 HOURS PER WEEK

SALARY: £12,480 per year

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As a Carers Engagement Officer, you will develop meaningful carer engagement and improve access to carer support for diverse and multi-ethnic communities across Mersey Care.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

To support MerseyCare to deliver on its strategic aim to ensure that carer diversity is effectively and meaningfully supported and will also support the implementation of the recent recommendations for practice published in Supporting Black, Asian and minority ethnic carers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Develop meaningful and sustainable carer engagement within multi- ethnic communities.


o Developing collaborative working within diverse and multi-ethnic communities across Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Warrington, and Halton.


o To link in with the wider carers centres and relevant organisations team to ensure a parity of service.


o Develop a sustainable pathway in which diverse and multi-ethnic carers are routinely identified and offered culturally appropriate and sensitive support.


o Develop and deliver co-produced training for Mersey Care staff to increase awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion within the context of an unpaid caring role.


o Service delivery will take place equitably across each area and will include holding engagement sessions, hosting events, completing 1:1 appointments and group sessions, developing and delivering training to staff and unpaid carers.


o To collect relevant data and produce monthly key performance indicators.


o Support the development of the programme with regular communication, meetings, and practical assistance.


o Arrange local events to engage with carers from multi-ethnic communities.


o Promotion of engagement events through relevant media and social media.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

o To carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.


GENERAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

o Confident in engaging with people in the community.


o An awareness of the needs of unpaid carers.


o Technical expertise in the use of Microsoft office, Outlook, including spreadsheets, would be desirable.


AN ESSENTIAL CAR OWNER/DRIVER IS REQUIRED AS TRAVEL IS A NECESSITY FOR THIS POST
