Summary

A Vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.


We are looking for trust grade Dentists/Doctors in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to join our current team of 6 Dental Core Trainees. The department delivers the full remit of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and is an IOG compliant head & neck cancer Centre. All Inpatient Surgery is carried out at the William Harvey Hospital. Outpatient clinics and day stay Surgery is performed on the three main sites, William Harvey Hospital, Kent and Canterbury Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Queen Mary Hospital, Margate where there are small satellite departments.

The main duties are located at the William Harvey Hospital. On occasions the Trust doctor will be required to visit the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury and the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate for day surgery and out patient clinics.

Normal daily duties will include attendance at Out-Patients clinics for new and review patients and joint orthognathic clinics as well as delivering minor oral surgery under local anaesthetic. It will also involve the day to day care of patients admitted for maxillofacial surgery, the attendance at main and daysurgery operating theatre lists. Experience will include assisting and performing dento-alveolar surgery and assisting with salivary glands surgery, cancer surgery, free-flap surgery and orthognathic surgery.

On-Call is a 1:8 shift system shared with DCT in oral & maxillofacial surgery at the William Harvey Hospital, covering the dedicated head & neck ward, treating casualty and trauma work as required as well as attendance at emergency operating sessions.
