Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Children’s Gastroenterology Ward for a motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team.
Ward 7C is a gastro ward within a versatile and dynamic service, providing high quality holistic care with an emphasis on working in partnership with the children and their families. We care for a range of children with gastrointestinal problems including short gut syndrome, Crohn’s disease, IBD and other forms of intestinal failure, and also patients requiring Parenteral Nutrition.
You will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team such as dietician and clinical nurse specialist to deliver tailored care to this cohort of patients.
We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn and develop new skills, are adaptable and show excellent communication skills. You must be a registered children’s nurse, have significant experience looking after common gastroenterological condition and acutely unwell patient sat band 5 level.
You will be supported with access to a number of in house and external courses as part of your personal and professional development and to augment your clinical skills.
The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and will be expected to undertake shift work which will include weekends and night shifts.

1.Ensures the process of nursing is developed to meet the individual needs of each patient, providing well documented assessment, care planning and evaluation.
2. Responsible for setting, providing and maintaining high standards of clinically effective nursing care at all times.
3. Provide leadership and management to the staff team at all times ensuring effective use of human resources on the ward to ensure safe and efficient service delivery
4. Ensure that a child and family-centred approach to care is provided in inpatient areas, which takes account of children’s individual medical, psychological, emotional and social
needs.
5. Identifies and receives clinical supervision in line with Trust Policy.
6. Responsible for providing clinical support and guidance to peers, junior members of staff/students and other members of the multi disciplinary team and identification of
opportunities for continued professional development and competencies.
