Summary

Assistant Psychologist Adult Mental Health. Fixed-term post (12 months) Employer: Cygnet Healthcare Location: Cygnet St Augustines Hospital Salary: £26,500 (per annum) Hours: Full-time (40 hrs a week) Cygnet St Augustines, Stoke on Trent Cygnet Healthcare is seeking to recruit a full time, experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Cygnet St Augustines in Stoke on Trent. This role will be for a fixed term (12 months) working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Cygnet St Augustines is a 32 bed specialist high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men. Our fantastic facilities and multi-disciplinary treatment programme are designed to assist individuals with their return to community living. Cygnet St Augustines is a multi-disciplinary and psychologically informed service. The focus is on nurturing an enabling environment to deliver a clinical model, developed specifically to meet the needs of service users within an operational framework, providing a high quality environment for promoting long-term recovery. Job Role The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within St Augustines by assisting the Qualified Psychologist in the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnets Healthcare objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations. To thereby help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and wellbeing of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation and supervised individual and group interventions. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported. We also offer an excellent Assistant Psychologist Development Programme to support our Assistant Psychologists continuing professional development. Candidate Profile You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all youll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable. Previous experience of working within mental health services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and/or group therapy sessions is desirable.
