As a result of internal promotion an opportunity has arisen for you to take on a leadership role as the Head of Purchasing within a well-respected Procurement Team at the forefront of NHS Procurement.

The role provides management & leadership support to a team of procurement professionals delivering best-in-class support to all clinical areas of our Trust.

The Head of Purchasing for Clinical is a key part of the senior management team. You will be responsible for an integrated procurement strategy serving the needs of the Trust and managing the procurement service across key clinical areas and which operate across all MFT sites.

With good management capabilities, you will maintain oversight of the team, seeing to it that resources are being used to best effect and working cross-functionally to ensure that Value for Patient targets are on-track.

Using your well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, you will enjoy coming up with creative solutions to complex challenges, including how best to engage with stakeholders to maximise their involvement in your initiatives.

There are times when conflicting priorities may present themselves, so prioritisation and time management of workload is a key skill. The post holds responsibility for undertaking complex and high value procurements and associated contract negotiations on behalf of the Trust. The post benefits from working collaboratively with Procurement colleagues across Greater Manchester as appropriate and the wider Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

You must be:

- CIPS qualified

- Educated to degree level or equivalent

- have sound knowledge of UK legislation and statutory requirements

- have significant post qualification purchasing experience with demonstrable achievements at a senior level including preferably within clinical categories
