About the role…
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Officer to join our award-winning Communications and Marketing Team.We are looking for a talented individual with the drive to constantly improve and innovate so that we can deliver exciting and engaging communications. We want someone who can think outside the box and push boundaries. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be creative and make a real difference in local government comms.
You will be delivering a wide range of communications and marketing from Instagram reels to engage with young people, flying drones to make engaging films to responding to media enquiries from national papers. The work will be exciting and varied with each day bringing new challenges that will keep you on your toes and provide you with an opportunity to try new approaches, explore new platforms and deliver brilliant work.
As part of the role, you will get the chance to use all the skills of a modern communicator including working with the media, delivering impactful campaigns and producing engaging social media content. You would do this as part of a wider collaborative team where you will have a real opportunity to develop new skills, grow as a professional and help us re-think the way we communicate to help people and get our message across.
You will be helping to tell residents about the work being delivered by the council and engaging them in crucial topics that impact people's day to day lives. Cotswold District Council is an ambitious council with a clear plan to improve the area and tackle some of the issues facing our communities whether that be responding to the climate emergency, providing affordable housing to local people, building a green economy or helping grow our communities. You would play a key role in helping us achieve these ambitious goals.
You will need…

Demonstrable understanding and experience of effective communications techniques, practices and current thinking including social media and other digital channels
Experience in managing media enquiries and engagement
A relevant professional communications qualifications in public relations, marketing or related field, a degree in relevant subject area or relevant experience

Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
