VACANCY for a Site Assistant

Line Manager: Trust Estates Manager
Salary Grade Range: NJC Point 5 - 6 (£19,054 to £19,372.70 per annum
actual pro-rated salary)
Hours of Work: 30 Hours per week – 6.30am to 9.00am and 2.30pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday
Weeks Worked: 52 weeks per year

Holy Family Catholic Primary School are seeking to recruit a site assistant to work with the Estates Team in ensuring the smooth running of the school site and that it is kept fit for purpose at all times.

Job Description -
Main purpose -
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds
• Carrying out cleaning, porterage, and minor repairs (within the capability of postholder)
• Promoting health and safety around the school
Duties
• Ensuring the site is safe for staff, pupils and visitors by carrying out remedial action as necessary and immediately e.g. gritting, cordoning off loose paving and advising the trust estates team of any issues.
• Lock and unlock the premises as required, including out of school hours when necessary.
• Responding to requests from staff in dealing with maintenance issues in a timely manner.
• Carrying out first line repairs and maintenance which are not beyond the scope and capability of the postholder.
• Carrying out compliance checks under the instruction and support of the Estates Team.
• Carrying out porterage duties such as moving furniture and equipment around the site.
• Ensuring all areas are free from litter and all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean.
• Taking delivery of stores, materials and other goods and conveying them to their points of distribution.
• Carrying out school-based procedures in the event of a fire, flood, accident or major damage.
• Working with the Estates Team across the Assisi Catholic Trust during school closure times.
• The above duties are not exhaustive and additional duties may be required to ensure the safe and smooth functioning of the school.

Person Specification –
Essential -
• Basic DIY skills
• To work both as part of a team and independently
• Carry out manual handling
• Have a flexible approach
• Current and valid UK driving licence
Desirable -
• Experience of working in a school
• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding policies
• Experience of building maintenance
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations
• Prepared to work outside of school hours and some weekend working on occasion
