Summary
Shift Technician
Job Purpose
Working as part of a team to cover a continental shift pattern, candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical/electrical plant and infrastructure in a data centre environment. Role will include supervision of visiting 3rd party contractors and issuing of permits under a safe system of work.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems in a commercial environment, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoringEnsuring that routine PPMs are carried out to all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and asset listsEnsure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all timesEnsure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all timesEnsure good quality workmanship which upholds company standards, complies with building codes, and follows safety requirementsBe able to work alone to find and present faults and concerns in mechanical and electrical systems without receiving explicit directionProvide exceptional customer service and answer any customer questionsMonitor and interpret the BMS to provide rapid response to issues associated with critical systems environment.Play an active role in the continued development of the BMSProvide professional assessments and advice for management
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Knowledge and experience of working in a commercial mechanical and electrical installation environmentPossess working knowledge of Building Management SystemsPossess working knowledge of single and three phase motors and control circuitsPossess working knowledge of LV generator sets, including synchronisation panelsPossess working knowledge of commercial refrigeration machines and air conditioning systemsPossess working knowledge of commercial UPS and battery installationsAbility to read mechanical and electrical drawingsExperience in fault finding on control panels and switchboardsExperience of working within a high health and safety cultureIT literate
Person
Must have at least 3 years' experience working in a commercial environmentMust be able to hold a British passportMust be able to obtain and sustain a high level of security clearance. Must have a recognised C&G level 3, or equivalent, qualification as a minimum in electrical or mechanical theoryMust be a team player.Must be able to attend training courses for development as required by managementMust be able to provide shift cover for leave and unplanned absenceValid clean driving licence
