Job description
Are you an experienced carer looking for a new role that is rewarding and provides a sense of satisfaction? Would you like to provide support to a young man in the community to enable him to live life to the full? If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, then a role with My Life Legacy could be for you!

About us
My Life is a highly respected charity and we are currently seeking an experienced Personal Assistant / Support Worker to join our growing team of Community based staff in East Lancashire. My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. My Life currently provides care and support to a growing number of individuals who have complex health and/or social care needs across the North West of England. Our staff are integral to the success of the charity as they are the ones making a real difference to people’s lives.

Your responsibilities
There is a Personal Assistant / Support Worker role available supporting a young man who lives with his Mum in Rishton. This individual enjoys baking, arts and crafts, visiting the cinema and just getting out and about in his local area. He also loves cars and coming to our site in Standish to engage in a programme of activities including getting stuck into working in the workshop. As part of the My Life team, your responsibilities will involve supporting this young man whilst maintaining his independence and enabling him to lead a full and valued life.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will be kind-hearted and fun to make a positive difference to this young man’s life, enabling him to access the community as well as our sites in Standish. You will have experience working as a Personal Assistant / Support Worker. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have the ability to use your own initiative whilst being caring and sensitive to the needs of others. You must hold a full driving licence and an understanding of Autism would be advantageous along with experience working in social care.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the life of the young man you are supporting whilst benefiting from the following:-

* Full induction/training
* Paid shadowing with experienced staff members
* Regular refresher training
* On-going continuing personal development including gaining qualifications if you
choose to
* Blue Light Card offering hundreds of discounts
* £200 refer a friend bonus scheme

The salary will be up to £12.05 per hour
