Location: Liverpool 2 days per week, Macclesfield 3 days per week

The role of a Hazardous Waste Chemist involves providing technical support, packing, listing, labelling of clients waste streams as well as being responsible for generating, completing and filing all relevant paperwork relating to shipments, safety assessments and reporting. As such it is important that a Hazardous Waste Chemist operates in a safe and responsible manner, has a good understanding of waste legislation and compliance, and is capable of building strong working relationships with clients.



What you'll be doing;

  • Building a strong working relationship with the client and assisting them with the services Veolia provide, being the daily presence on site they require
  • Inventorying, booking and preparing waste shipments for transport and disposal
  • Assessing hazardous waste including listing, labelling and packing of chemicals
  • Stock management of supplies such as labels, tags and packaging
  • Ensuring all paperwork is raised, updated and filed appropriately
  • Working towards more in depth and granular data collection of waste interactions on site
  • Assisting with on site waste generation and storage, likely to include consolidation of solvents, ensuring commercial waste (plastics, cardboard, etc) is segregated
  • properly and assisting with cleaning up spills/leaks
  • GEMBA safety site inspections
  • Compiling and generating reports to provide accurate and in depth information on how the site is functioning



What we're looking for;

  • A science based HND or equivalent ideally in Chemistry
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the hazardous waste industry
  • COSHH and health and safety understanding
  • Some administration experience/background is preferred
  • As the role is split between locations, candidates must hold a valid driving licence
