We have an exciting opportunity for an Employment Officer to join our Employment & Personal Development team covering the Northern Trust locality on a permanent part-time (30 hours per week) contract with the potential option of increasing to 37.5 hours per week. This role will be a hybrid approach of working from home and working out in the community at meetings.

As an Employment Officer, you will work as part of a team to support people with a learning disability to access a range of employment and training opportunities, to develop their skills and confidence and to progress towards their employment goals and aspirations.

You will have the ability to generate a range of high quality, appropriate placements and paid employment opportunities, through engagement with employers and effective promotion of Mencap services.

This role requires an enthusiastic, driven and self-motivated individual. You will have excellent time management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team. You will be able to demonstrate effective negotiation and mediation skills.

The role requires the ability to travel to meetings, events and training, as well as to other Mencap locations when required. The successful candidate must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car in order to travel in accordance with the needs of the post. On occasions, staff may be required to work outside normal office hours.
