Are you looking for a role that will allow you to take the lead in developing business opportunities whilst providing expert advice and support?

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to help lead this growing area of our environmental consultancy. The role will suit a commercially focused and driven individual that can provide specialist advice in the field of climate risk analysis and climate resilience and can co-ordinate and manage delivery of a range of diverse projects.

You will play a leading role in developing business using your background knowledge and contacts, while being supported by senior members of our team to gain a fast appreciation of JBA’s portfolio of climate-related services and experience.

You will be involved in helping shape JBA’s climate services strategy and will work within a team of over fourteen staff comprising climate risk analysts, climate scientists, climate change policy specialists, and leaders in applying climate science on national and international projects.

This team carries out work for a wide range of UK and international clients and works collaboratively with wider JBA Specialists such Decarbonisation, EIA and Planning.

Key aspects of the role:

• Act as a key internal and external specialist to provide technical guidance in the fields of climate projections, climate risk analysis and climate adaptation.
• Use your technical knowledge to lead projects to understand the baseline and future risks/opportunities to natural assets, ecosystem services and communities.
• Providing leadership and work closely with our existing team to develop current opportunities, identify and gain new opportunities and to manage and coordinate the delivery of projects across the UK.
• Keep up to date with and use of tools and best practice techniques to assess climate risks, climate resilience, integrating climate adaptation and resilience into spatial and city planning.
• Use your understanding of climate policy, strategy, action and engagement to provide specialist guidance and advice to support private clients and government organisations.
• Help shape and manage client relationships and business development within the climate resilience market.
• Input into the development of new JBA tools to assist with climate work.
• Communicating internally and externally on climate services and projects to a range of diverse audiences, including conference papers, talks, internal and external training.

Location:

The post will ideally be based in our Saltaire, BD18 3LF office in West Yorkshire, although we can be flexible on location for the right candidate. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility.

We are looking for applicants with the following:

• An understanding and experience of improving societal resilience.
• Strong commercial and client focus with a record of forging strong client links.
• Efficient communication skills with an ability to deliver clear reports and confidence in presenting proposal/project findings to influence relevant parties.
• Ability to develop and manage effective relationships and partnerships internally and externally with a track record of working collaboratively and delivering high quality reports.
• Focus and experience of achieving and delivering technical excellence for clients.

Candidates will have:

• Academic qualification(s) in relevant field(s).
• Experience in and a proven track record in the field of climate risk analysis and/or climate adaptation and technical leadership of projects.
• A good understanding of UKCP18 projections.
• An understanding of the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA3/4) and National Adaptation Planning.
• Experience of supporting clients with reporting requirements.
