Summary

Do you want to gain nationally recognised qualifications while earning as you learn a trade? Would you like to start your career with a certified Great Places to Work organisation? If you have answered yes, then Bromford is seeking passionate and driven individuals interested in becoming qualified heating engineers. We are offering a 4-year apprenticeship programme for candidates from 16 years and upwards.

Gain well-rounded expertise in areas like plumbing, gas safety checks, system design, and customer service! As our heating engineer apprentice, you will be trained to install, repair, and maintain gas heating systems and hot water appliances in our customers’ homes. A flexible attitude is essential. Our heating teams typically work Monday to Friday, starting 8am, or sometimes before, and finishing around 4.30pm.

Over the intensive 4-year programme, you will combine onsite training under experienced mentors along with and college-based learning to complete a recognised trade qualification. There are no specific restrictions on prior qualifications, but heating engineer apprentices must not have an NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in the same subject.

This is an opportunity to build a stable, rewarding career with one of UK’s leading housing associations. As a heating engineer, you will benefit from having a highly sought-after, transferable skill set with the opportunity of building a long-term career with Bromford.

This apprenticeship is a full time, 4-year fixed term contract, including 3 years of part time study for your qualification and a further 1-year practical placement. You will receive standard Bromford T&Cs like all colleagues and your salary will increase each year. Due to the nature of the programme, a basic DBS check will be completed for you.

The recruitment process consists of assessments and interviews taking place in June 2024. The programme starts in September 2024.

If you meet the following criteria, we encourage you to apply before Friday 10 May 2024:

  • Interest in a heating engineer career
  • Physically fit with the ability to perform manual work
  • Willing to train both on-site and in classroom settings
  • Passionate about quality craftsmanship
  • Customer service skills
  • Available for work and training 5 days a week
  • Can attend assessments/interviews in May/June, if application successful
  • Can start the programme in September 2024, if successful
  • Have the right to work and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Have a full UK driving licence or willing to obtain one during the apprenticeship programme.

Stand out from the crowd and kickstart your career to become a qualified heating engineer! Apply before 10 May to avoid disappointment.
