Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join an established team of Psychologists in the Secure Services for people with Intellectual Disabilities at Brooklands Hospital.

The contribution of psychological services is highly valued within the teams and service management and is fully integrated within collaborative multi-disciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will have post qualification experience of working with forensic populations and/or considerable experience of working with people with Intellectual (learning) disabilities who present considerable risk to others. You will use your psychological skills and experience to provide assessments, individual and group therapies, team formulations, and reflective practice. You will also supervise others (qualified psychologists and non-psychologists) and be involved in training others, such as ward staff and multidisciplinary colleagues.


The psychology department at Brooklands is a well-established and supportive service and the successful applicant will receive support to further develop their skills and knowledge, through supervision and training opportunities. The team work from a number of different therapeutic approaches including CBT, CAT, CFT, EMDR and Schema Therapy. We also have a full DBT programme operating, and provide a number of well-established and structured offence group programmes as part of the service user’s comprehensive treatment pathway.

To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality, highly specialist Psychological Service to the Secure Services on the Brooklands site, as directed by the Lead Psychologist.

To work co-operatively with multi-disciplinary colleagues to achieve service goals.

To provide psychological assessment and therapy, consultation, and training.

To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinicians involved with these services, working autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising full clinical responsibility, and implementing changes where necessary.

To clinically supervise, manage the workload and support the work of junior psychological service staff allocated to them.

To be involved in service development projects improving the quality and effectiveness of services.
