Summary

A Vacancy at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join the Aseptic Service team at The Royal Oldham Hospital. The service provides chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition (neonatal and adult) and CIVA products to sites across the Northern Care Alliance.

Working closely with our colleagues at Salford Royal Hospital, you will support the development and management of the pharmaceutical quality system, and aseptic services provided from the Royal Oldham Hospital. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the development of a new aseptic unit for Oldham (subject to capital funding approval).

The post requires you to have a comprehensive knowledge and experience of aseptic procedures, Quality Assurance and Good Manufacturing Practice.

Applicants without this knowledge can apply for the Aseptic Services Pharmacist (b7) vacancy as full training will be given. You will then have the opportunity to progress to Highly Specialist Aseptic Services Pharmacist (b8a) once appropriate training (including successful enrolment on PTQA PGDip) is completed.

This is a full-time post, and you will be required to support the on-call service for aseptic services. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the NCA flexible working policy.

You will provide professional supervision for all activities related to the aseptic dispensing services at Royal Oldham Hospital to ensure the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines within available resources. This includes provision of cytotoxics, total parenteral nutrition and CIVA services. You will also act as an authorised pharmacist.

You will support the provision of a high quality aseptic service which meets the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within and associated with the Trust and also participate in the training of rotational pharmacists, technicians, pre-registration graduates and assistants.

You will undertake supervision of pharmacy staff and teaching of nursing and medical staff and will be professionally accountable for any pharmacy function for which they assume responsibility.

The Diagnostics and Pharmacy Group is part of the Northern Care Alliance (NCA), one of the largest NHS organisations in the country. A place of science, innovation and transformational thinking, the Diagnostic and Pharmacy Group unites Radiology, Pathology and Pharmacy services across the NCA to create a cooperative group committed to delivering safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
