Summary


Opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the cardiology day unit and Cath lab.

The post holder will work as a professional as part of the multidisciplinary team providing a safe, efficient and effective service within the field of Cardiology, ensuring high standards of patient care.

Responsible for the assessment, planning and implementations of patient care and assist with cardiac procedures within the unit.

Participate in research, audit and monitoring of standards.

Direct supervision and training, developmental support and advice of junior staff, newly appointed staff and visiting students and observers.

A vacancy has arisen for a post within the Cardiology Day unit and Cath Lab within In Hospital care at North Tees and we are pleased to offer full time hours for a qualified nurse within the multi-disciplinary team. We are seeking an experienced RGN with previous NHS acute hospital experience with a specialist interest in cardiology to work alongside, under the supervision of the Unit Matron and Sister to enable us to co-ordinate a quality service.

Previous cath lab / angio / scrub technique experience would be an advantage

1. Responsible for the assessment/planning and implementation of patient care maintaining high standards and acting as the patients advocate.

2. Participate in a range of interventional cardiac procedures to national and local standards within the cardiac catheterisation laboratory including coronary angiography and pacemaker implants under the supervision of the operator.

3. Demonstrate and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the physiological, psychological and social needs of cardiac patients acquired through practical experience and continued professional development.

4. Provide and communicate accurate information to aid medical diagnosis and treatment.

5. Abide by legal requirements and statutory rules relating to NMC codes and scope of practice

6. Demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.

7. Contribute towards the development and implementation of departmental guidelines and policies alongside senior colleagues to help make improvements within the Cardiology Service.

8. Be responsible for the safe use of complex technical equipment on a daily basis.

9. Play an active role in the supervision, management and leadership for junior nurses, HCA’s and other staff groups.

10. To assist with developing and driving high quality standards and service within and external to the trust.

11. Liaise with other members of the team to facilitate a seamless programme of care to patients and service to medical staff

12. Advise and instruct staff and patients in preparation for examinations as required

13. Take part in regular formal evaluation, quality assurance and audit within the team and contribute to make changes where appropriate

14. Ensure effective Risk Management Assessment

15. Deputise for Band 6 as required, understanding own limitations and areas of responsibility within the unit.

16. Familiarise and adhere to Local Rules and Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER) within the unit.

17. Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff

18. Tackle discrimination and harassment, and promote equality and diversity in the workplace

19. Reduce sickness absence; work place accidents; and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff

20. Take responsibility for personal development and education and the development of a Personal Development Plan.

21. Carry out regular appraisals for staff, ensuring business goals are clearly communicated and linked to objectives

22. Review training and development of all staff, so all staff have a personal development plan, and support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process
