Summary

To undertake highly specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessments of neurosciences patients and to provide opinions to inform the medical diagnosis and care plan. These opinions involve the interpretation and integration of highly complex data from neuropsychological and psychological tests and underlying theoretical and therapeutic models, information from the patient and family, the current literature and with regard to other medical investigations such as neuro-imaging. To communicate these specialist opinions in the form of complex written and verbal reports. To feedback these specialist opinions to patients, families carers and other professionals when the information may be sensitive and contentious. It will be necessary at times, to provide opinions that conflict with other professionals and to communicate these views to individuals who may have difficulties in understanding, communication or who may be angry, highly anxious, hostile or manipulative. To make skilled judgments about treatment options and to provide specialist advice concerning management of a patients physical and psychological care. These opinions involve the interpretation of complex information obtained from psychological theoretical and therapeutic models, underlying evidence of treatment efficacy and factors concerning historical and developments processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. To provide specialist and complex psychological treatments and interventions for patients presenting with a wide range of psychological disorders. Under guidance from the senior clinical psychologists, to take professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients and the planning and prioritisation of a dedicated caseload. To provide specialist neuropsychological and psychological consultation to other professionals in relation to patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and care. To attend and participate in all relevant clinical and professional meetings. To plan and prioritise own workload in respect of clinical, research and other activities.
